THE SERIES: It’s the fifth and six meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Wichita Falls Wildcats. The Bulls won the first two games in Wichita Falls in the first weekend of October, while the Wildcats took three out of a possible four points in the Texas Panhandle just before Christmas. Three of the four games in the season series have been decided by two goals or less and two have required overtime or a shootout. Defenseman Joe Grabowski and forward Roman Ammirato each have two goals while five players have two assists apiece.
STREAKS AND STATS: The Amarillo Bulls come into the weekend riding a seven game winning streak, and have collected at least one point in eight games. The Wildcats have a 6-4 mark in their last 10 games that includes six-game winning streak is sandwiched in the middle of two stretches of back to back losses. Wildcats goaltender David Zevnik has played in eight of the Wildcats’ last nine games.
ACROSS THE SOUTH: The Bulls have a 10 point lead in the South Division over second place Topeka and 11 points over Wichita Falls and Rio Grande Valley. There is a full slate of South Division games this weekend. The Topeka RoadRunners visit the Springfield Jr. Blues, while Odessa is in Corpus Christi and Rio Grande Valley meets the Lone Star Brahmas.
NEXT HOME GAME: Hockey is back at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center next Sunday, Jan. 26 when the Bulls host the Odessa Jackalopes at 6 pm. It’s Faith and Family Fun Night. Church Groups are invited to bring their organizations out to the game.
PRIMETIME BULLS ALUMNI: Matt Johnson and Lake Superior State University hit the airwaves of NBCSN tonight with a game against the University of Notre Dame. Tomorrow night Ricky DeRosa and Penn State hit the same station when they visit Michigan State.
