WHAT IS AT STAKE: The Amarillo Bulls trail the Corpus Christi IceRays by eight points for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Division. Any combination of two IceRays wins and two Bulls losses will eliminate Amarillo from playoff contention. The IceRays visit the Shreveport Mudbugs for two at George’s Pond Hirsch Coliseum.
THE SERIES: It’s the final two meetings of the regular season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas. There have been three shutouts in the series with two going to the Bulls and seven of the 10 games decided by two goals or less. It’s also the first time since the trade acquisition in January that Bulls forwards Jared Domin and Austin O’Rourke have returned to North Richland Hills.
FABULOUS FRIDAYS: It’s been a wild stretch over the past six games weekends for the Amarillo Bulls where they have been strong on Friday to start a series but struggle the next night. In fact the Bulls are 4-0-2-0 in their last six Friday contests, including their biggest come from behind effort of the season versus the Corpus Christi Icerays.
STATS ETC: Forward Jared Domin continues to be a driving force in the Bulls playoff push with eight points (3 goals and 5 assists) in his last eight games. Another part of the success has come from goaltender Trevor Micucci who is 2-0 in his last four appearances and has surrendered a total of five goals in just under 200 minutes of playing time. Defenseman Nikita Sokolov has certainly been at the right place at the right time for the Bulls as both of his goals this season have been game winners.
ACROSS THE SOUTH: In other South Division action this weekend the IceRays face the Shreveport Mudbugs and the Topeka RoadRunners have a date in Odessa to take on the Jackalopes.
