OLD FASHION RIVALRY: It’s very much like the old days revisited as the Amarillo and Topeka lock horns for the first time this season. The two teams will match-up a total of eight times including four in the month of December. In the first four years of the Bulls franchise, the rivalry with the former Topeka RoadRunners were exciting, dramatic and often rough and tumble. The Bulls captured two South Division Championships on Topeka ice, and also participated in the Robertson Cup National Championship Tournament in their very first year.

STATS, ETC: Several Amarillo Bulls players are near or at the top of the scoring department in a variety of different categories. Jason Brancheau leads the NAHL in scoring with 11 points, while Alex Peterson is third with eight points. Nick Anderson leads all defenseman with eight points. The Bulls and the Topeka Pilots have each won three games when they tally the first goals of the game. First periods have certainly been a big part of the start for both teams as the Bulls have tallied 10, while Topeka has netted 9.

SHOWCASE REWIND: What at week for the South Division at the North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota. The Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka Pilots finished with perfect 4-0 marks. The Bulls had victories over the Brookings Blizzard 5-4, Chippewa Steel 4-1, Jamestown Rebels 9-0 and New Jersey Titans 3-2. The Pilots edged the Wilkes-Bare Scranton Knights 4-3 in overtime, blanked the Minnesota Magicians 3-0, nipped Austin Bruins 2-1 in a shootout, defeated the Chippewa Steel 5-1.

ACROSS THE SOUTH: Two other games this weekend in the South Division and both of the home teams will play their first games in front of their faithful. The Lone Star Brahmas entertain the Odessa Jackalopes at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills, while the Corpus Chirsti IceRays host the Shreveport Mudbugs at American Bank Center.
