THE SERIES: This is the third and fourth meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners. The Bulls captured the first game in early October, while the RoadRunners took the second one. These two teams will face off again next weekend at Kansas Expo Center Landon Arena. The two teams have one more set of games coming up at the end of the regular season.
STATS PACK: Despite some tough times on the special teams lately, the Amarillo Bulls remain second overall on the power play in the North American Hockey League. That number combines a fourth place on home ice and third on the road. Forwards George Mika and Kosta Likourezos have combined for nine power play goals, while Hayden Broomhead has seven helpers. The Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners each have 10 first goals of the game this season, but the RoadRunners have been able to push that two extra wins (6 Amarillo, 8 Topeka).
WHAT IS AT STAKE: It’s an important weekend and in fact the next four games very critical for both teams. The RoadRunners are tied with the Corpus Christi IceRays for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Division each with 23 points, while the Bulls are just two points back. Each team has played the same amount of games. The IceRays have one game in hand on both the Bulls and Topeka.
ACROSS THE SOUTH: The South Division schedule gets underway tonight (Thursday) as the Odessa Jackalopes visit the Wichita Falls Wildcats. The two teams will meet over the course of the next three days. Elsewhere, the Corpus Christi IceRays are off to North Richland Hills to meet the Lone Star Brahmas at NYTEX Sports Center. Shreveport Mudbugs are enjoying the weekend off.
