Weekend Preview – Bulls Host Rival Runners

THE MATCH-UP: Topeka RoadRunners @ Amarillo Bulls 

LOCATION: Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center

GAME DATES: Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2 – 7 pm 

BROADCAST INFO: Fans can catch the action live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV courtesy of Fast Hockey. Coverage begins with the Wayland Baptist University Warm-Up Show at 6:45 pm. Denis J. Puska has the call to follow.

THE PROMOTIONS: Friday – United Way and Halloween Hangover Night. Fans are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costume. One prize for the best adult costume and one for the best child’s will be given out. The first 500 fans receive will receive a Bulls’ Magnet Schedule.

Saturday – Panhandle Spirit Night, with $1 hot dogs. There is an opportunity to win Milk for a year and one lucky fan can also win a getaway package at the Big Texan.

THE SERIES: It’s the third and fourth meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners. The Bulls won the first two games 4-0 and 4-3 with Cody Gylling and Matt Sieckhaus each scoring twice. The two teams meet again on Thanksgiving Holiday weekend in Topeka at Kansas Expo Center Landon Arena. 

STATS, ETC: The Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners have combined for 16 wins when they have netted the first goal. The RoadRunners are one of seven teams to have yet to score a shorthanded goal this season, but are one of two teams (Kenai River) to yield at least three against. Amarillo already has nine South Division wins which is the most of any divisional wins by a team.  

ROAD WARRIORS: Both teams certainly know what it means to be road warriors. The Bulls will play 10 of their next 12 away from the Amarillo Civic Center including a stretch of six with stops in North Richland Hills, Corpus Christi and Hidalgo. The Topeka Road Runners are in the middle of a stretch of 10 straight away from home, and don’t play on home ice until Thursday, Nov. 21.
