THE SERIES: This is the first of eight meetings between the Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays. After this weekend the two teams won’t see one another until December when the Bulls make their first trip to South Texas. The two teams will then resume their series after the new year. The Amarillo Bulls won all eight meetings last year with the IceRays; Among those players who are back from a year ago, Cody Gylling and Mitchell McPherson combined with five goals and six assists for 11 points with forwards Brad LeLievre and Wes Michaud having combined five points for the IceRays.
BULLS NOTES: It’s been a hot stretch lately for forward Cody Gylling, who has two goals in his last two games. All three Amarillo wins have come when leading after 40 minutes of play. In the first two periods of the last two games, the Bulls have netted four goals. There is just one more home weekend left for the Amarillo Bulls before the meat of their road schedule begins with 10 games between November 1st and December 31st. During that time the Bulls will only play six home games.
ICE RAYS STINGERS: After winning three games in a row, the Corpus Christi IceRays are 1-2-1 in their last four, and have been outscored 16-10. Goaltender Andrew Lindgren has appeared in nine of the first 13 games. Just five IceRays players return from last year’s team that didn’t make the post season. Wes Michaud (12 points), Anthony Cortese (12 points) and Tanner Lomsnes (11 points) are among their top point getters with a combined 35 points.
