Weekend Preview – Bulls Host IceRays In Key Games

FRIDAY PROMOTIONS: Fans are invited to come meet Mickey Mouse and get their picture taken with him.

SATURDAY STAR WARS NIGHT: It’s the 2nd annual Star Wars Night Night Presented By Yellow City Comic Con. There will be booths on the concourse, Star Wars Costume Contest, Wookie Call and a chance to meet Felix Silla.

SPECIAL JERSEYS: The Bulls are wearing special Stars Wars Jerseys with a live auction to take place immediately after the game with proceeds to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.

BROADCAST OPTIONS: Tune into the action live on CBS SportsRadio 1440, online at www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV with Fast Hockey, beginning with the Wayland Baptist University Warm Up Show at 6:40 pm. The puck drop with Denis J. Puska follows at 7 pm.

THE SERIES: This is the 7th and 8th meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays. The Bulls have two wins and a shootout loss in the series, but have taken five out of a possible seven points in the last three games. The two teams will not meet again after this weekend.

WHAT IS AT STAKE: It’s an important two games between these two teams as the IceRays and the Bulls are tied for the 4th and final playoff spot in the South Division. The IceRays have two more victories than the Bulls and are placed ahead of them in the standings. The Odessa Jackalopes are four points back of fourth, while the Topeka RoadRunners are nine away.

ACROSS THE SOUTH: There are two other games in the South Division this weekend as the Odessa Jackalopes visit the Topeka RoadRunners at Kansas Expo Center Landon Arena. The RoadRunners have dropped 10 in a row, while the Jacks are 4-4-2-0 in their last 10 games. The other match-up features a first place showdown as the leading Lone Star Brahmas travel to Wichita Falls to meet the Wildcats at Kay Yeager Coliseum. The Cats and the Shreveport Mudbugs are tied for 2nd place with 46 points apiece.

ICERAYS NOTICED BY CENTRAL SCOUTING: Corpus Christi IceRays goaltender Tomas Vomacka is one of four North American Hockey League players on the latest NHL Central Scouting List. Vomacka, who beat the Bulls 4-3 in a shootout last Thursday, is joined by Defenseman Hunter Lellig of the Minnesota Magicians, Defenseman Benton Maass of the Fairbanks IceDogs, and goaltender Ivan Prosvetov of the Minnesota Magicians.

BULLS ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES CONTINUED: The Amarillo Bulls said good bye to defenseman Jeff Solow on Thursday morning as he is off to Merrimack College to begin his NCAA College Career. Solow committed to Merrimack on Wednesday and due to injuries and roster moves will join the team immediately. He is the third Bulls player to make NCAA plans this season joining George Mika (UMASS-Amherst) and Steven Ipri (Mercyhurst).

For this weekend’s action, the Bulls have called up defenseman Noah Kimel from Colorado RoughRiders. He will wear jersey No. 5.
