Weekend Preview-Bulls Head To Topeka

 BULLS NEXT AT HOME: Hockey returns to the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28 when the Amarillo Bulls entertain the Corpus Christi IceRays at 7 pm. Saturday is Pink In The Rink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

 THE SERIES: It’s the first of 12 meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners. The two teams will play again in Amarillo in Mid-November then again in early December. The final six meetings will take place between March 2nd and April 7th.

THE HISTORY: There is certainly plenty of history between the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners as the two teams have developed quite an exciting rivalry over the years. In fact Friday’s game between the two teams is the 82st all time and 69th of the regular season. The Bulls lead the all-time regular season series 31-29-4-4.  There were a total of four pre-season games and nine South Division playoff games as well as one Robertson Cup Tournament match-up.

WHAT’S AT STAKE: The Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RodRunners are tied for third place in the South Division entering action this weekend. The Bulls managed just a single point at home versus the Corpus Christi IceRays falling 5-3 and then 2-1 in overtime. The RoadRunners took a pair from the defending Robertson Cup National Champions.

WHO’S HOT: Jon Russell and Nick Granowicz have been leading the way for their respective teams lately. Russell has six goals in his last five games, while Granowicz has six helpers in his last six games and overall 12 points in the last 9 games.

ACROSS THE SOUTH: It’s another busy weekend of action in the South Division with the Odessa Jackalopes entertaining the Lone Star Brahmas at Ector County Coliseum. The other match-up has the Corpus Christi IceRays visiting the Shreveport Mudbugs.
