Weekend Preview-Bulls Entertain Mudbugs In Return Match-up

THE SERIES: It’s the third and fourth meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Shreveport Mudbugs. The Bulls collected just one point out of four last weekend in the State of Louisiana falling 3-1 and then 5-4 in a shootout. The two teams are not done with one another after this weekend with two more games in Shreveport to come on November 2, 3 at the Budweiser Bull Pen and then after a month away they will face each other again on November 30 and December 1.

ACROSS THE SOUTH: It’s a full slate of action in the South Division this weekend with the Odessa Jackalopes visiting the Lone Star Brahmas at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills. Elsewhere, the Corpus Christi IceRays and the Topeka Pilots begin match-ups with teams from the state of Alaska. The IceRays host the Fairbanks IceDogs, while the Pilots take on the much improved Kenai River Brown Bears.

STATS ETC: The Bulls feature four players (Jason Brancheau, Logan Jenuwine, Brenden Datema and Brett Abdelnour) in the top 10 in scoring. Datema leads the league with seven power play goals, while Brancheau has seven power play helpers. The Bulls suffered their first loss of the season when they scored their first goal of the game. The Janesville Jets have the best percentage of five first goals and five victories. In the special teams category, the Bulls have 17 power play goals which leads the circuit followed by Bismarck at 14. Forward Logan Jenuwine has 12 points in his last seven games, while Brendan Datema and Jason Brancheau have been red hot on home ice. Datema has five goals in his last five home appearances, while Brancheau 10 points in six games.

DEFENDING CHAMPS: The Shreveport Mudbugs have outscored their opponents 23-18 in the final 40 minutes of games this season this despite being out-gunned 9-5 in the first period. The Mudbugs have just four first goals 10 games this season and are ranked No. 1 penalty minutes with nearly 30 per game. Forwards Gueorgui Feduolov and Andrew Jackson have the most unusual of stats to begin the season. Feduolov has six assists, but no goals, while Jackson has picked up five goals. Goaltender Leo Chuard is responsible for five of the six wins.
