Preview-Bulls Visit Jacks Tonight

AMARILLO, TX – Spoiler Alert….

Even though the Amarillo Bulls won’t be going to the Robertson Cup Playoffs this season, they can still have a major impact on the races with just about a month remaining in the regular season.

The Bulls can play major spoilers of momentum when they visit the Odessa Jackalopes at Ector County Coliseum tonight at 7 pm. The Jackalopes have lost four in a row and yielded six goals in each of their last two games. Those losses have sent dropped Odessa to four points back of the Corpus Christi IceRays for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Division. This game serves as one of the Jackalopes two games in hand with both of them coming this week.

Amarillo played two highly competitive games against the Topeka RoadRunners on home ice over the weekend going head to head with the 3rd place team for nearly two full games but not being able to post a victory.

The Bulls are in the midst of a busy week that includes two more games on the road this coming weekend visiting the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

It’s the 10th meeting of the season between Amarillo and Odessa but the first match-up in West Texas since late October. The Bulls have collected points in two of the last three games including a 8-5 triumph.

Forwards Joey Molinaro and Charlie Singerhouse have been strong in the season series combining for 12 goals. (Molinaro 7, Singerhouse 5) George Mika has two goals and nine assists for 11 points and 44 shots on goal.

Goaltender Dean Shatzer has collected five wins against Amarillo will forward Hampus Sjodahl has fired eight goals and added five assists for 13 points. Defensemen Daniel Kiraly and Andrew McLean have combined for plus 22.

The Amarillo Bulls return to home ice on Friday, Mar. 25 and Saturday, Mar. 26 when they host the Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm. Amarillo College and The Musical Texas are the presenting partners on Friday’s game. There are free tickets available for high school seniors for that game. Saturday is sponsored by The People’s Federal Credit Union with fans who come early receive a Pucky The Pig Piggy Bank.

The Bulls are also wearing special jerseys in honor of their 400th North American Hockey League game as a franchise. Fans will be able to win one of those by purchasing tickets either at the Bulls Office or the weekend of the two games. Tickets are just $5 for the draw with proceeds to benefit Amarillo Youth Hockey.
