THE SERIES: The two teams split the first two meetings of the season back in September with the Brahmas winning 6-1 and then the Bulls taking the 2nd 3-0. The Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas better get used to seeing one another as they will meet a total of six times including four in North Richland Hills at NYTEX Sports Center.
TWO HOT TEAMS: It’s a battle of the hottest teams not only in the South Division but the entire North American Hockey League. The Lone Star Brahmas have picked up at least one point in their last seven games (6-0-1-0), while the Amarillo Bulls have collected points in their last five (3-0-1-1). The two teams are also among the best in penalty killing, near the top 10.
WEEKEND REWIND: Perfection was the order of last Friday and Saturday for the Amarillo Bulls as they dumped the Corpus Christi IceRays 4-0 and 1-0 on home ice. What a game for forward Simon Morberg who potted home all four goals in the first game. Brett Abdelnour tallied the lone goal in the second game. Goaltender Jason Grande stopped all 66 shots he faced.
The Lone Star Brahmas played a pair of games at home versus the Odessa Jackalopes at NYTEX Sports Center. The Brahmas took the opener 2-1 in overtime and then the 2nd one 4-1. Forward Austin O’Rourke had two goals. Mitchell Gibson and Harrison Feeney each one a game in goal during that weekend.
ACROSS THE SOUTH: It’s a quiet weekend in the South Division with just two other teams seeing action. At Kansas Expo Center Landon Arena the Topeka RoadRunners host the Corpus Christi IceRays on Saturday and Sunday. The Shreveport Mudbugs, and Odessa Jackalopes both have the weekend off.
