Peterson named NAHL South Division 2nd Star

AMARILLO, TX – Alex Peterson’s debut with the Amarillo Bulls was one of many big stories during the first week of play in the North American Hockey League.

Peterson scored twice in the Bulls 5-3 win over the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Lansdale PA native was voted the NAHL’s South Division 2nd Star Of The Week.

“We are very happy for Alex and the recognition he received,” said Bulls Head Coach Rocky Russo. “He played very well on Saturday and showed that he is more than capable of being an impact player in the NAHL. He will receive a lot of attention from NCAA Division I programs at the Showcase.”

Peterson scored his first goal at the 6:28 mark opening period to make it 2-0 and then added his second to begin play in the middle stanza.

Scoring is nothing new to Peterson as he put up some impressive numbers with the Philly Little Flyers in the EHL last season potting 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points in 44 games. In the post-season, Peterson was also highly effective with 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points in 12 games.

The Amarillo Bulls begin play at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine Minnesota on Wednesday afternoon when they face the Eastern Division’s Wilkes Bare-Scranton Knights. Fans can tune into the action live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, online at and on PPV with Hockey TV beginning with The Warm Up Show at 12:50 pm. Puck drop at the Schwann Super Rink is set for 1:15 pm.
