AMARILLO, TX – The second annual Hockey Day in Texas hits the ice this weekend at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
During that time Amarillo Youth and Adult Hockey players as well as celebrities and current members of the Amarillo Bulls Hockey Team will take part in a 20-hour fundraising event with proceeds to benefit Youth Hockey and help bring greater awareness to the sport.
Hockey Day In Texas begins on Saturday at 10:30 am with the first ever all girls game followed by various other levels. As part of the activities that night, the Amarillo Bulls will host the Odessa Jackalopes at 7 pm in North American Hockey League action. The cities of Amarillo and Odessa have met in hockey for more than 15 years.
Sunday’s action faces off at 10:30 am and is highlighted by a Celebrity Game at 5:30 pm. The Red Team coached 806 Sports Radio host Kenny Nagunst takes on the blue team coached by the voice of the Amarillo Bulls Denis J. Puska. The teams feature current Bulls players as well as former professional players Austin Sutter, David Rattray, Jason Chafe, Todd St. Louis, Eric Andersen and John Severyn. Celebrities include, Matt Hamilton from Newchannel 10, Jonathan Polasek of Pro News 7; DJ Ezell of 806 Sports Radio, Bobby Lee of the Big Texan and Tommy The Hacker of Town Square Media just to name a few.
Admission to watch the celebrity game is $5. There will be a silent auction with various items from jerseys to paintings being up for sale.
