THE SERIES: This is the third meeting of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Texas Tornado. After going scoreless in the first game for 65 minutes and needing a shootout, the teams combined for five goals in the second meeting. Amarillo beat Texas 1-0 in the Bullls’ Inaugural Home Opener. The Tornado took the second game 3-2 thanks to two power play goals and the winner midway through the third period.

 FRIDAY IN FRISCO: Fans in the Dallas suburb were treated to an exciting and thrilling hockey game that featured a second period brawl. The Amarillo Bulls saw an early 2-0 first-period lead evaporate and dropped a 3-2 decision to the Texas Tornado. Joe Kozlak and Luke Jenkins netted the Amarillo goals, while TJ Sarcona and Mitch Rogge picked up the assists. Texas scored two goals on the power play in the first 2 periods and then tallied the game winner midway through the final stanza. Tornado goaltender Jimmy Krueger was outstanding in net over the final 40 minutes stopping the Bulls on several opportunities including a couple of partial breakaways. Bulls goaltender Nikifor Szczerba played extremely well, stopping 40 of 43 shots. There were a total of 16 power plays in the game, with the Tornado going 2 for 11.

 SPECIALTY TEAMS: With the two goals last night, the Texas Tornado are now tied for fourth place in the NAHL with 12 power play goals. The Amarillo Bulls had killed off 25 of their last 16 penalties until the two they surrendered last night. It dropped the Bulls penalty killing to seventh in the league.

SHOOTING THE PUCK: The Amarillo Bulls and the Texas Tornado both like to shoot the puck in the first period. The two teams have combined for 237 shots in the first stanza with the Bulls having the advantage 119 to 118.  The Texas Tornado continue to lead the NAHL, averaging almost 38 shots per game. The Bulls are 10thin that department.

TIED AFTER 2: The Texas Tornado won their third game of the season last night (3-0-2) when they are tied after 40 minutes of hockey. The Bulls dropped their first game in regulation (3-1-1) when they head to the third period tied.

SOUTH DIVISION UPDATE: There was only one other South Division game last night and it took place in Wichita Falls. The Topeka Road Runners scored three consecutive goals to snap a 3-3 tie and went on to double the Wildcats 6-3. The Road Runners actually led 3-0 in the first only to see the Wildcats tie the game in the second with three of their own. The two teams will face one another again tonight in Wichita Falls. Meantime, the Corpus Christi Ice Rays host the New Mexico Mustangs in the first of back-to-back games. Those two teams had the night off on Friday.
