TOPEKA, KS – The Amarillo Bulls look to open 2011 the way they closed 2010 when they take on the Topeka RoadRunners tonight (Saturday) at 7 pm at the Kansas Expo Center-Landon Arena.
The Bulls raced out to a 2-0 lead and then held on to beat the RoadRunners 3-2 on New Years Eve for their 21stwin of the season. Despite the victory, the Bulls remain one-point back of the South Division leading Texas Tornado which beat the Wichita Falls Wildcats 4-2. The Bulls still have several games in hand on the Tornado and will utilize one of those tonight. A win can vault Amarillo into sole possession of top spot.
The season series has been dominated by the Bulls with four wins in five games, including two decisions in Kansas. Goaltender Nikifor Szczerba, who was terrific in goal last night, has three of his club’s victories in the series.
The Bulls have won four games in a row and have captured at least one point in their last seven games. Topeka has won eight of their last 11 games, including a sweep over the Texas Tornado.
