Game Day – Amarillo Bulls @ New Mexico

RIO RANCHO, NMX – After a disappointing effort last night, the Amarillo Bulls look for a bounce back effort when they take on the New Mexico Mustangs tonight (Saturday) at 7:30 pm Mountain, 8:30 pm Central, at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

The Bulls surrendered two goals in the final nine minutes of the third period to squander a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 in overtime to the Mustangs. It was New Mexico’s first win of the season over the Bulls, while for Amarillo it was their first loss against any team other than Texas, Topeka or Wichita Falls.

The Bulls remain five points back of the first place Texas Tornado in the South Division standings. The Tornado was beaten in overtime on home ice by the Topeka RoadRunners. Amarillo still has four games in hand on the Tornado heading into a big showdown next Friday, Dec. 17 at the Amarillo Civic Center.

Goaltender Steve Bolton gets the start tonight coming off a 5-2 win over the Corpus Christi Ice Rays last Saturday night.

Fans can tune into the contest live on ESPN1440 and fueled by Sportsjuice, beginning with the Bulls Warm Up Show Presented By Wayland Baptist University at 8:15 pm central. Denis J. Puska has the play-by-play call at 8:30 pm. The game is also available on Pay-Per-View courtesy of Fast Hockey and a high speed internet connection is required in order to view the game.

Hockey is back at the Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center next Friday, Dec. 17 when the Bulls host the Texas Tornado at 7 pm. The Bulls will wear their Christmas jerseys and an auction follows immediately after the game in The Corral with proceeds to benefit Amarillo Youth Hockey. Fans are also encouraged to bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear or Stuffed Animal to the game. When the Bulls score their first goal, throw the toys onto the ice. The toys will be collected and donated to charity.
