BROADCAST OPTIONS: Due to high school football, Friday’s game is being moved to Amarillo’s Rock Station Rock 108 beginning with the Wayland Baptist University Warm Up Show at 6:40 pm. Denis J Puska has the hard hitting action at 7 pm. The game is also available online at and on PPV with Fast Hockey.

THE SERIES: This is the first of 12 meetings this season between the Amarillo Bulls and their closest rivals in terms of the distance the Wichita Falls Wildcats (separated by just three and a half hours). The teams met a total of eight times during the regular season with an even split down the middle of four wins per side. Three games went to a shootout and seven of the eight meetings were decided by two goals or less. The two clubs met in the first round of the South Division Semi-Final series that the Bulls won in three straight games.

BULLS NOTES: Six of the first Bulls eight games have been decided by two goals or less. In three of the last four games, the Bulls have been able to tally a first period goal. The Bulls penalty killing has been rock solid in the last four games. In the last 25 times shorthanded the Bulls have given up just three power play goals including just one goal in their last 16.

THE CATS: The Wichita Falls Wildcats welcome new Head coach John LaFontaine behind the bench. LaFontaine coached at the famed Shattuck St. Mary’s program, a private school located in Fairbault Minnesota just south of Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Just even players are back on the Wildcats roster including goaltender David Zevnik and four forwards.

After posting just one win in their first three games of the regular season, Wichita Falls went on a streak and won five straight games before a loss to the Lone Star Brahmas last Saturday night. In those five wins, rookie goaltender Austin Shaw was outstanding allowing just six goals.

ACROSS THE SOUTH: There are two other South Division games tonight. One takes place in North Richland Hills, TX as the Lone Star Brahmas host the Corpus Christi IceRays. The other game features two teams that were once the same as the Wenatchee Wild visit the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The Killer Bees were once the Wild as that franchise ownership transferred to South Texas following the 2013 Robertson Cup National Final in Frisco, TX.

The lone other game in the South Division this weekend has the much improved Odessa Jackalopes facing the Topeka RoadRunners in Kansas. The two teams will play tomorrow (Saturday) night and again on Sunday afternoon.
