Amarillo, Tx( Apr 18, 2021)-The Amarillo Bulls complete the comeback on Sunday afternoon to win two out of three games against the Wichita Falls Warriors. The Bulls would take down the Warriors by a score of 5-to-4.
The Warriors would score two goals early with a Drake Usher and Thomas Weiss goal both on the power play to give Wichita Falls a 2-to-0 lead within the first five minutes of the game.
Harrison Scott would get the Bulls on the board after receiving a perfect pass from Jordan Venegoni at the 11-minute mark to make it a 2-to-1 deficit into the first intermission.
The Warriors would get another power-play goal just three and a half minutes into the third period to chase Hunter Garvey and reclaim a two-goal lead. Wichita Falls would strike again halfway through the second period to open up a 4-to-1 advantage.
Amarillo would get on the board with a heads-up play by Ryan Coughlin when he snuck the puck between the post and the goalies skate to make it a 4-to-2 game. Only 14 seconds later Cooper Fensterstock would score his eighth goal of the year to pull Amarillo within a goal.
In period three, Greg Japchen unleashed a heavy shot to beat Owen Bartoszkiewicz to tie the game at four with eight minutes remaining. Moments later the Bulls would have a two-on-one rush with Nick Martino and Fensterstock and capitalize with Fensterstock’s second goal of the game to give the Bulls their first lead of the game.
Amarillo would hold on and complete the four-goal comeback to take two out of three weekend games versus the Warriors. The Bulls will hit the road next weekend to take on the Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday and Saturday.
With the win, Amarillo maintains a four point advantage over Wichita Falls for the third spot in the South division.
