Derek Hills Heads To Amarillo

AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced today (Thursday) that defenseman Derek Hills has committed to play for the team this season.

Hills spent last season with the Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCHL), where he averaged nearly a point per game. The 6-3, 210 pound native of Campbell River, British Columbia collected 18 goals and 30 assists for 48 points and 64 penalty minutes in 59 games. He also added six power play goals and one game winner.

“Derek is a strong, smart, 2- way defenseman,” said Head Coach Dennis Williams. “He is a junior hockey veteran who will bring experience and leadership to our organization. Our staff and ownership group are very excited to have a young man with Derek’s character and ability.”

The Amarillo Bulls will begin their main tryout camp on Friday, Aug. 27 at The Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. Details on practice times will be released in the next week.
