Bulls Win Streak At 7 After 6-0 Win

AMARILLO, TX – Seven…

That’s the win streak for the hottest team in the North American Hockey League. The Amarillo Bulls scored early and often and got solid goaltending from Ryan Winter when needed as they blanked the Lone Star Brahmas 6-0 on Saturday at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.

The Bulls moved into first-place tie with the Topeka Pilot in the South Division and in a four-way tie for first in the overall standings. However, the Bulls own the best winning percentage of the three teams they are grouped with as well as the Pilots for the Division lead.

Logan Jenuwine tallied twice for the Bulls, while Jordan Venegoni, Brendan West, Brendan Datema and Jason Brancheau had singles. Brett Abdelnour and Alex Peterson each had two assists. Goaltender Ryan Winter stopped all 21 shots he faced, including 10 alone in the third period.

It didn’t take the Bulls offense long to strike as Logan Jenuwine scored on a one timer from the slot area from David Ojamae at the 4:20 mark of the game. Eight minutes later, the red hot line of Jason Brancheau, Brett Abdelnour and Alex Peterson moved the puck quickly up the ice, and found Brancheau alone at the side of the net to make it 2-0. The Bulls outshot the Brahmas 11-7 in the first period.

The Bulls had a full five-minute power play to start the second period but failed to push anything across the line. Just past the midway mark, Brendan West worked hard below the goalie line and put the puck in front of the net to find Jordan Vengoni open, who was able to score on a second rebound attempt. Late in the period, the Bulls added a fourth goal as Brendan Datema scored on a one-timer via the power play from Abdelnour and Peterson. Seven-three seconds later, it was Logan Jenuwine who scored on a second opportunity in front of the net after Jake Willets first two shots were stopped by goaltender Wes Mankowski. Cooper Fensterstock also added a helper on the play. The Bulls outshot the Brahmas 15-4 in the second period.

There was just one goal in the third period and newcomer Brendan West notched his second of the season on a great shot from the top of the face-off circle. Alex Murray earned an assist on the play.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Lone Star Brahmas 38-21. There were a total of four power plays during the game with the Bulls having all of them and going 1 for 4.
