AMARILLO, TX – It was a memorable opening weekend for the Amarillo Bulls.
Not only did they post back-to-back victories over the Odessa Jackalopes to improve their record to 3-2-1, but on Saturday night they unveiled three banners, including the 2013 Robertson Cup National Championship.
The month of October is a busy one for the Amarillo Bulls that includes a four game homestand starting on Friday, Oct. 11 and concludes the following weekend, Saturday, Oct. 19. The two road trips are situated on either side of the homestand with visits to Wichita Falls and then to Hidalgo, TX to face the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
RADIO SHOW DEBUTS TONIGHT: For the second consecutive year, the Amarillo Bulls are holding their weekly Radio Show at Seven Grill and Bar located on Soncy Road In Amarillo. Tonight’s debut with host Denis J. Puska and Head Coach Dennis Williams will feature a recap of the weekend and a preview of a road trip to Wichita Falls. There is also a player profile segment, too. Fans can join the show live at Seven Grill and Bar or tune in on CBS Sports Radio 1440 from 6 pm to 7 pm. The show is now streamed live on www.amarillobulls.com.
FRIDAY, OCT. 4 & SATURDAY, OCT. 5 @ WICHITA FALLS WILDCATS, 7 PM, KAY YEAGER COLISEUM: This is the first of eight match-ups between the Amarillo Bulls and the Wichita Falls Wildcats. Fans can tune into the action live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV courtesy of Fast Hockey, beginning with the Wayland Baptist University Warm-Up Show at 6:45 pm.
HOMESTAND STARTS IN TWO WEEKS: The Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center will be a busy place in a couple of weeks when the Amarillo Bulls return to start a four game homestand. It begins against the Topeka RoadRunners and one of the best rivalries in the NAHL on Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12. The following weekend (Friday, Oct. 18, Saturday, Oct. 19) the Corpus Christi IceRays are in the Texas Panhandle.
FAMILY FOUR PACK RETURNS: It’s family four pack night on Friday, Oct. 11 when the Amarillo Bulls take on the Topeka RoadRunners. For $39, Bulls’ fans receive four tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas to that game.
WEEKEND PASS: Fans will want to take advantage of a new promotion on Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday Oct. 19 when the Amarillo Bulls host the Corpus Christi IceRays. It’s a Weekend Pass, where fans can get either Two Silver Level Tickets for $18 or two Red Level Tickets for $24. That’s a savings of six dollars.
FACE OFF AGAINST CANCER: On Saturday, Oct. 19 when the Amarillo Bulls host the Corpus Christi IceRays, it’s Pink in the Rink Breast Cancer Awareness night. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks.
AMARILLO BULLS 4 – ODESSA JACKALOPES 2: The Bulls fired two third period markers to snap and 2-2 tie and went on to an opening night win over the Jackalopes. Tyler Gernhofer notched a pair of goals, while Joe Grabowski and Carter Penzien had singles. Matt Sieckhaus chipped in two assists and Collin Delia posted the win in goal.
AMARILLO BULLS 4 – ODESSA JACKALOPES 0: The 2013 Robertson Cup National Championship team was honored with a banner raising ceremony. Three banners were unveiled including the South Division title, NAHL Overall Regular Season and Robertson Cup. Once teams got to playing hockey the Bulls scored four goals in the final 40 minutes, and goaltender Paul Berrafato stopped all 19 shots he faced for his first win of the season. Kyle Gattelaro, Ben Jentsch, Mike Davis, and Cody Gylling picked up the goals.
