Bulls Weekly – After Opening Weekend Back On Road

AMARILLO, TX – Opening weekend’s have always produced plenty of victories in the short franchise history of the Amarillo Bulls. For just the second time, and the first since 2011-2012, the Bulls were only able to manage just one point in two games against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. In 2011-2012 the Bulls were beaten by New Mexico in regulation 5-4.

The Bulls currently have a mark of 2-2-2 and sit in a tie for fourth place in the South Division Standings with two other teams. It’s back on the road this weekend as the Bulls renew the best rivalry in the North American Hockey League against the Topeka Road Runners at Kansas Expo Center Landon Arena. The face off is set for Friday and Saturday at 7 pm

NEXT AT HOME – FRIDAY OCT. 10 VS WICHITA FALLS WILDCATS – 7 PM: The Amarillo Bulls begin a stretch of four consecutive weekends at home starting next Friday, Oct. 10 when they host the Wichita Falls Wildcats at 7 pm. It’s family fun night with fans being able to choose from the Family Four Pack of Tickets or the Bring A Bud Pack. The Family Four Pack consists of Four Hotdogs, Four Sodas and Four Tickets for $44, while the Bring A Bud Pack consists of Two Tickets, Two Sodas and Two Hotdogs for $22.

RIO GRANDE VALLEY KILLER BEES 5 – AMARILLO BULLS 3: The visiting Killer Bees scored the eventually game winning goal on the power play with less than five minutes remaining in regulation. The Bulls had two one goal leads at 2-1 and 3-2. Cody Gylling, Roberts Smits and Kasper Emanuelsson scored for Amarillo while Jacob Weatherly took the loss in goal. Ruslan Rakhmatov picked up three assists, while Cody Gylling, Joey DiBenedetto, and Roberts Smits had the others.


RIO GRANDE VALLEY KILLER BEES 3 – AMARILLO BULLS 2, OVERTIME:  After rallying back in the third period, the Bulls suffered a tough 3-2 overtime loss at the hands of the Killer Bees. Brady Crabtree and Mitchell Vanderburgh earned the goals for the bulls. Vanderburgh’s goal was the equalizer in the final eight minutes of regulation. Elijiah Barriga, Ruslan Rakhmatov, Mike Damien and Roberts Smits earned assists on the goals. The game featured 108 minutes in penalties including an altercation in the second period.
