Bulls Visit Jackalopes on Tuesday Night

BULLS NEXT AT HOME: Hockey returns to the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday Feb. 11 when the Amarillo Bulls host the Wichita Falls Wildcats at 7 pm. Friday is First Responders Night Presented by Neighbors Health Center and all First Responders will get in free. Family members will pay just $8. It’s also Mascot Night with an opportunity for businesses, schools and organizations to bring their Mascot to the game. Saturday, is Merrick Pet Care Pet Night with plenty of displays on the concourse. Sonic Presents it’s Family 4 Pack for $44 (4 tickets, 4 hotdogs and 4 sodas), and Bring A Bud Pack for $22 (2 tickets, 2 hotdogs and 2 sodas). It’s also Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts Weekend with discounted tickets available to Troops or Packs for either games.

THE SERIES: This is the seventh meeting of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Odessa Jackalopes. The two teams still play one another five more times before the end of the regular season. The Bulls have posted a 2-4 mark with one win coming on the road on December 30 and another that was on January 6th. Chase Thudium leads the Jacks with three goals and seven assists for seven points, while four different players have tallied three goals apiece. Goaltenders Jonny Hogue and Jon Flakne each have two wins.

Steven Ipr leads Amarillo with five goals and five assists for 10 points, while George Mika and Luke Edgerton have eight points apiece.

WHAT’S AT STAKE: The Amarillo Bulls are looking to snap a two game losing streak with a victory over the Jackalopes. The victory would move the Bulls to within four points of the Corpus Christi IceRays for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Division. Odessa has posted just one win in their last six starts but a victory would tie them with the Bulls for fifth place.

BULLS NOTES: Former Bulls defenseman Jeff Solow played in his first NCAA College game on Friday night for Merrimack College. It was a successful one as Merrimack College defeated the No. 1 team in the nation Boston University 4-1.

Brendan Walkom has tied George Mika with four first goals this season. The Bulls have seven wins when outshooting an opponent and six wins when they beat the opposition by three goals.

JACK BUCKS: The Odessa Jackalopes welcome back Cooper Zech to the line up after he returned from his stint in the United States Hockey League. Other new faces in the line-up include Peyton Frantti from the Topeka RoadRunners and Ludwig Steinlund. The Jacks are just 1-5 in their last six games and have generated fewer than four goals in each of them.
