Bulls Tender Defenseman Tanner Palocsik

press-releaseAMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls are looking to add more offensive production to their defense next season and they hope their latest tender signing will go a long way in that regard.

The Bulls announced today (Friday) they have signed defenseman Tanner Palocsik for the 2017-18 campaign. Palocsik, native of Aliquippa PA (near Pittsburgh), played for the Penguins Elite U18 program in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League, and netted one goal and 18 assists for 19 points in 31 games.

“I’m a smaller defenseman who tries to bring more offense to the team, but still looks to make his defensive side solid,” said Palocsik, who is a 5-10, 170 pound defenseman. “Skating is probably one of the strongest things that I do. I will be hope to be able to skate well and make offensive plays happen by moving the puck.”

Palocsik got his feet wet with the Bulls this past season where he played in two games back in December at the Budweiser Bull Pen. He said the time spent in the Texas Panhandle has really helped him.

“I think that playing those two games will help me next year to be more comfortable and not as nervous on the ice,” he said. “I think it will be a real confidence booster and that’s how it helped me with the rest of my year this past season.”

The young defender is excited about joining the Bulls and getting the team back on the winning track.

“I’m very much excited about tendering with the Amarillo Bulls,” said Palocsik. “I know the coaching staff really well. I feel really comfortable and think they have something really good going on down there.”

Palocsik was one of two Bulls players who participated in the recent USA National Championships in his hometown of Pittsburgh. He said the experience was second to none.

“It was really neat to play in my hometown of Pittsburgh,” he said. “I had a lot of friends and family that came to watch the games. We got to keep our locker room the whole time. It was a professional experience and somewhat similar to my junior experience in Amarillo. There were a lot of very good skilled hockey players.”

Tanner Palocsik is the fourth player tendered by the Amarillo Bulls for the 2017-18 season joining Brendan Furry, Brenden Datema and Jakob Hanthorn.
