AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls have added some definite size between the pipes with its latest tender signing for next season by adding goaltender Cody Christofferson.
The 6-2, 174 pound native of Longmont, Colorado played with the Rocky Mountain Roughriders U18 team in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) where he posted a record of 11-7-0 with a 1.93 Goals Against Average, and a .909 Save Percentage in 19 games. During the post season Christofferson had a 4-1 mark in five games with a 1.00 Goals Against Average and a .960 save percentage. He record two shutouts during his post-season run.
Cody Christofferson said he’s thrilled to join the Amarillo Bulls.
“I’ve heard nothing but great things from Matt (Nehls) about how top notch the organization is,” Christofferson said. “I hope I can make an impact on the team with my consistent play and ability to close out big games.”
Christofferson participated in the NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament earlier this year for the South, and was an affiliate of the Topeka RoadRunners.
Amarillo Bulls Head Coach Matt Nicholson said they have known of Christofferson through defenseman Matt Nehls who is also from Colorado.
“Matt spoke very highly of Cody as a person and with his work habits,” said Nicholson. “Cody was in a unique situation as an affiliate player with the Topeka RoadRunners. We got to see him first hand live with NAHL shooters so that along with watching him on tape helped with the decision. He is a big strong kid who seems hungry to want to prove himself at the NAHL level.”
Nicholson said Christofferson adds more depth to the position for next season.
“Just like any position we need depth, and we felt that Cody is a player that will come in and compete for a job and strengthen our goaltending staff,” he said.
Cody Christofferson joins, Steven Ipri, Brendan Walkom was well as Eric Cooley, Sean Mallonee, Luke Edgerton, Justin and Brendan Mickhaelian as tenders for the 2015-16 season.
