Bulls Tender Aidan Girduckis

AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls have concluded their tender signings for the 2016-17 season by adding Canadian defenseman Aidan Girduckis (pronounced Gir-Duck-Iss).

Girduckis, a native of Stirling, Ontario, Canada (West of Toronto) netted seven points in 47 games in his first season with the Wellington Dukes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. At the U16 and U18 levels, the 6-3 195-pound defenseman earned 27 points in 47 games over the course of two seasons.

Girduckis said that he is excited to get his junior career started.

“I met Coach Nicholson initially when he was a scout at Robert Morris,” said Girduckis. “I was asked about the opportunity to go play for him and I thought it was an exciting opening for me. I had to jump at it.”

Girduckis said his goal and dream is to be a Division I player just like his older brother Abbot who just concluded his first season at RIT.

“Amarillo and the South Division are great places to get exposure to scouts,” he said. “You’ve got to go where you are wanted and Amarillo has shown interest in me for the past year. It’s a great program with lots of tradition, success and opportunity for development. It’s a really good chance to move on to the next level and I couldn’t pass it up.”

Bulls Head Coach Matt Nicholson said he has known the Girduckis family for several years and believes that Aidan has plenty of potential and will be a right fit for the team.

“I was involved in recruiting Abbott Girduckis when I was at Robert Morris,” he said.  “Although, Abbot did not end up signing at RMU I’ve continued to keep in touch with the family. In that time, I got to know Aidan and kept tabs on him. When an opportunity presented itself to get a player of Aidan’s caliber and potential, it was a no-brainer for our organization.”

Aiden Girduckis joins Hayden Broomhead, Kyle Madore, Cody Christofferson, Brendan Johns, Steven Ipri, Brendan Walkom, Eric Cooley, Sean Mallonee, Luke Edgerton, Justin and Brendan Mickhaelian as tenders for the 2015-16 season.
