Bulls Tender 11 Players For 2011-2012 Season

AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced today (Tuesday) that they have tendered 11 players for the 2011-2012 season.

The eleven players, seven forwards, three defenseman and one goaltender, have signed a written agreement or tender to play for the Amarillo Bulls.

“We are very excited about the players that have tendered with our program,” said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. “Not only are we getting great hockey players, but young men with great character. We pride ourselves with hard work and commitment and I am sure our fans will be more than happy with our signees.”

          Among the forwards that were tendered include Omar Mullan, 5-9, 180, 1993,  from Belle Tire (Michigan) U18AAA who had 20 goals and 34 assists for 54 points. David Seward, 6-4, 215, 1993, had 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points in 39 games, for the Buffalo Regals (NY) U18AAA  program. He also racked up 80 penalty minutes.

Nolan Culver, 5-9, 170, 1993, who played for Sylvania Northview High School in Ohio this past season, collected 42 points (27 goals and 15 assists) in 28 games. Alex Carey, 5-10, 175, 1993, suited up for the Atlanta Thunder (Ga) where in 63 games he had 56 points (24 goals and 32 assists). Louie ‘Robert’ Rowe, 6-5,220, 1994, had 11 points in 25 games for the Lansing Capitals (Michigan) U18AAA. Coda Engbar and Darren McCormick round out the remaining forwards.  Engbar, 5-11, 180, 1994, notched 10 points in 13 games for the Colorado Thunderbirds U18AAA, while McCormick, 5-11, 170, 1993, had 19 points in 28 games for Belle Tire (Michigan) U18AAA.

“I feel our scouting staff, in particular Assistant Coach Rocky Russo and Director of Scouting Jay Laing did a terrific job identifying good hard working young men that take pride in the game and will do whatever it takes for the success of the team,” Williams added.

The trio of defenseman tendered include two players from the Chicago Young Americans (Illinois) U18AAA program. Geoffrey Fortman, 6-2, 215, 1993, had 19 points, while Bryan Drazner, 6-1, 190, 1993, had 15 points in 39 games. Rounding out the defenseman is Ed McGovern, 6-0, 190, 1993, of the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes U18AAA (Arizona) who posted 16 points in 39 games.

Michael Rotolo is a 1993 goaltender from the Buffalo Regals (NY) program. Rotolo, 6-1, 200, had a 7-1-4-2 mark with the Regals U18AAA and 1.75 goals against average in 12 games.

"The young men that we have committed to for next season come from winning programs with excellent coaching,” said Bulls Assistant Coach Rocky Russo. “Each player was hand selected to help us continue to improve on our winning culture and commitment to giving back to our community. Ultimately, we hope they can contribute to the organization's goal of bringing a National Championship to Amarillo."

Omar Mullan, David Seward, Coda Engbar, Darren McCormick, Geoffrey Fortman, Bryan Drazner, Ed McGovern and Michael Rotolo played in the Tier I Elite AAA Hockey League, while Alex Carey and Louie ‘Robert’ Rowe played in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL).
