Bulls Stopped By Brahmas 3-2

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX — The Amarillo Bulls surrendered two third period goals just over five minutes apart and dropped a 3-2 decision to the Lone Star Brahmas on Friday night at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills, Texas.

Brett Abdelnour and Brendan Datema scored fore the Bulls who were held under wraps by the Brahmas defensive play and the goaltending of Seth Eisele. Joey Baez, Zac Heintz and Jack Suede tallied for the home side.

There was no scoring in a tightly played first 20 minutes of play, with the Bulls having the shot advantage 10-8. The Brahmas netted the lone goal of the middle stanza after they had just failed to score on a power play. Zac Heintz scooped up the puck off the face-off and sent it through a screen and between the legs of Grande. The Bulls had a good push during that period with 12 shots directed at goaltender Seth Eisele  and chances by John Pesek, Gabriel Seger and Alex Peterson but were denied.

The Bulls came out strong in the third period and tied the game on a shorthanded goal by Brett Abdelnour, who broke up the ice on a two on one with Jake Willets, after forcing the Brahmas power play unit to commit a turnover. Twenty-three seconds later, the Brahmas went back ahead when Jack Suede tipped home a puck in front of the net with help from Eric Huss who began the play on a wraparound.

Just over five minutes later, the Brahmas special teams went to work as Joey Baez was left wide open and his one-timer beat goaltender Grande. Michal Stinl and Jack Suede earned assists on the play.

In the dying seconds of the game the Bulls pulled their goaltender and Brendan Datema scored on a shot from the point off a face off play from Logan Jenuwine and Gabriel Seger.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Lone Star Brahmas 30-19 including 8-6 in the third period.
