Bulls Score Four In First On Way To 8-2 Drubbing Of Jackalopes

AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls resembled their old selves for much of the regular season on Friday night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.

Four first period goals including three in the first 12 minutes of play powered the Bulls past the rival Odessa Jackalopes 8-2. It was the Bulls 34th win of the season and 19th on home ice.

Alex Peterson led the way offensively with a hattrick, while Jason Brancheau, Brett Abdelnour, Jake Willets, Matt Allen and Cooper Fensterstock had the others. Logan Jenunwine chipped in four assists, while Gabriel Seger and Brancheau each had three. Brett Abdelnour, and Brenden Datema had two helpers apiece.

The Bulls came out strong in the opening period scoring three times in the first 12:17 of play. Jason Brancheau scored on a play in front of the net from Jake Willets and Brett Abdelnour. A short time, later Cooper Fensterstock rocketed a shot past the goaltender from Logan Jenuwine and Brenden Datema. Alex Peterson had the third Bulls goal on a great shot from Logan Jenuwine and Gabriel Seger.

The Odessa Jackalopes narrowed the margin to 3-1 when Everett Wardle scored, but the Bulls erased that and went back up by a comfortable margin when Matt Allen scored from Brett Abdelnour and Jason Brancheau. The Bulls outshot Odessa 16-14 in the first period.

The homeside tallied twice more in the middle frame as Jake Willets scored from the point with help from Gabriel Seger and Logan Jenuwine. Brett Abdelnour tapped one home from Brenden Datema and Jason Brancheau.

Forward Oscar Tsykhagen scored the visitors second goal early in the third period but the Bulls netted two more goals to round out of the offense. Alex Peterson completed his hattrick with his second and third of the game, while Gabriel Seger, Logan Jenuwine, Jason Brancheau and Cooper Fensterstock added the helpers.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Odessa Jackalopes 39-34 including 13-12 in the final period.

A short two game home stand comes to an end tonight (Saturday) at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center as the Bulls face the Odessa Jackalopes at 7 pm.
