BULLS OUTLAST ICERAYS IN FIRST MEETING SINCE NOVEMBER

Amarillo, TX – The Amarillo Bulls outlasted the Corpus Christi IceRays, 4-3, in a seven-goal, back-and-forth affair on Friday night in Amarillo.

The Bulls needed less than a minute to take the lead when Matt Allen sniped a Niclas Puikkonen feed into the back of the net for his 19th of the season just 44 seconds into the game.

In the second period, Brett Postula scored his first of the year when a David Hill pass fell right to his stick blade before he rifled it home, giving Amarillo the 2-0 lead. Ben Biester would cut the lead in half, putting the IceRays on the board before Postula slapped home his second of the game for the Bulls. The IceRays would steal a goal in the dying seconds of the frame, as Kyle Gudme scored on a long wrist shot.

Corpus Christi tied the game, early in the third period, when Tod Philibert cleaned up a backdoor rebound to tie the game. Linus Udd-Hellgren, in his first game back for Amarillo since returning from an injury in early November, wristed the go-ahead and game winning goal into the back of the net with 4:46 left to play in regulation.

With the win, the Bulls are now 37-7-1-2 with 69 points and hold sole possession of the South Division lead.

The Bulls remain at home, in the Budweiser Bull Pen on Saturday, February 1, to take on the Corpus Christi IceRays. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike’s Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:05PM CST on 107.1 Nash Icon and Hockey TV.
