Bulls NAHL Showcase Schedule Released

AMARILLO, TX – A rematch of the last two Robertson Cup National Champions highlights a big schedule for the Amarillo Bulls at the North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota in September.

All 24 NAHL teams will play four regular-season games at the Showcase. For scouting purposes, the NAHL Showcase is the premier event of its kind and is a yearly gathering for every NCAA program and NHL team as they get their first look at some of the best and brightest hockey talent North America has to offer. The NAHL Showcase Tournament annually attracts over 9,000 people in overall attendance, including a record number of 342 NHL, NCAA and junior scouts, who attended the 2013 NAHL Showcase last season. For more information on the NAHL Showcase including schedule, ticket prices, hotels, rental cars and arena information, visit nahl.com/showcase.

The NAHL Showcase, which has evolved into one of hockey's most prominent and popular events of the entire season, will be played at The Schwan Super Rink, which is the largest ice arena of its kind in the world. The state-of-the-art facility, a $21 million project totaling over 300,000 square feet, features eight sheets of ice under one roof. With all its varied amenities and services, the Schwan Super Rink is absolutely unique in the world of ice sport facilities.

The event will also feature all 32 teams from the Tier I North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), eight additional teams from the Upper Midwest High School Elite League (UMHSEL) and 12 teams from the Tier I High Performance Hockey League (HPHL). In addition, there will four at-large teams at the 16U level included in competition. In total, 80 teams will be at the event.

The Bulls have an overall record of 9-4-3 in four years at the Showcase, including three consecutive years where they were able to post three wins in four games. At the 2012-13 Showcase, the Bulls did not lose a game in regulation. There is no championship game at this tournament and the winner is based on a better goal differential in their four games.

The Bulls begin their schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 17 when they face the Wenatchee Wild in one of the first games of the day at 10:30 am. It’s the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams where the Wild have the edge 2-1. The Bulls lone win came at the 2013 Robertson Cup National Championship Game in Frisco, TX. The Bulls and the Wild met just last year at the Showcase where Wenatchee managed to pull out the victory. The two teams are now part of the revamped South Division.

One of the Friday showcase games has a match-up between the Bulls and the 2014 Roberston Cup National Champion Fairbanks Ice Dogs at 4:30 pm. It’s just the third ever between the two elite franchises in the league and the Ice Dogs have the edge 2-0 with both games coming at Robertson Cup Tournaments (2010-Topeka, 2011-Frisco).

On the third day of the tournament, the Bulls will face the Kenai River Brown Bears at 8:15 pm. These two teams hook up for the second straight year at the Showcase with the Brown Bears earning the only victory.

The 2014 Showcase wraps up on Saturday, Sept. 20 when the Bulls face the Springfield Jr. Blues for the very first time at 12:45 pm.

Once again all of the North American Hockey League Showcase games will be aired live on PPV courtesy of Fast Hockey (www.fasthockey.com). The Amarillo Bulls broadcast plans for the 2014-15 season will be released at a later date.
