BRIGHTON, MICHIGAN – The defending Robertson Cup Champion Amarillo Bulls concluded main camp on Saturday night in Brighton, Michigan, and made their selection of the players they have invited to the Texas Panhandle in mid-August to begin Training Camp.
Head Coach Dennis Williams says there were some tough choices to make but noted that all of the players worked hard during the five days.
“We were very excited about how things went as we concluded main camp,” Williams said. “There some tough choices and we wanted to make sure we did our homework and have two all-star games to see how kids developed. It was a long week, but in the end we feel we have invited the right group of guys down here for training camp that our fans will be excited to see.”
Williams said one of the noticeable differences for this year’s team is that they are younger.
“It’s going to take us 90 days to get to where we want to be in terms of player development, and to work with them because there are so many new guys coming out of the great midget programs,” he said. “It’s a different jump once they get to junior as the pace is faster and the players are bigger.”
One of the things that Bulls Main Camps have been noted for is the Coaching Staff taking time to speak to each player.
“The kids worked hard, and we talk to each and every one of them to make sure they have homes to go back or a back-up plan in place,” he said. “We do our best to find them places to play since they were with us for five days. We continue to strive and work to move kids on.”
