AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls had a terrific week on and off the ice, posting two wins in their playoff series over the Texas Tornado, and also giving back to the community at two events. The Bulls beat Texas 7-5 and then 5-3 to take a 2-0 lead in their Best-Of-Five Robertson Cup NAHL Playoff Series. The Tornado will host game three and possibly game four, if necessary, this weekend.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE:The third game of the Best-of-Five series between the Amarillo Bulls and the Texas Tornado will take place on Friday at 7:30 pm at Dr. Pepper Arena. Should a fourth game in the series be necessary, it would be played on Saturday, also at 7:30 pm. If a fifth and deciding game is needed then it would be back in Amarillo on Monday, Apr. 11at 7 pm.
UPCOMING BROADCAST SCHEDULE:Fans can tune into games three and four, if necessary, of the series between the Amarillo Bulls and the Texas Tornado this weekend live on ESPN1440 and www.amarillobulls.com. Coverage begins with Prelude To The Playoffs Presented by Wayland Baptist University on Friday at 7:15 pm. Denis J. Puska has the call at 7:30 pm. RADIO SHOW AT BEEF’S:A playoff edition of the Amarillo Bulls Radio Show is live tonight from 6pm to 7 pm at Beef O’Brady’s located at 34th and Coulter. Come out and wish the Bulls the best of luck as they head to Frisco later this week to resume their playoff Series. Join host Denis J. SARCONA WINS PLAYER OF THE MONTH:Forward TJ Sarcona was chosen as the Reid’s Appliance Service Amarillo Bulls Player of the Month for March. Sarcona notched six goals and two assists for eight points and was a plus 2. He was also second on the team in Shots on Goal with 29, and had one game- winning tally.
BULLS IN THE COMMUNITY:It was a busy Saturday for Bulls players and staff as they were participating in two major activities. All of the Bulls players took part in the Autism Awareness Walk at Sam Houston Park. Later, Rampage made an appearance at the walk and delighted all of the children that were in attendance. The Bulls also had a booth set up at the 2nd annual Man Cave that took place at the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bulls Buggy, and new race car were on display for everyone to see. Staff members answered questions to those who stopped by the booth for a visit.
TOPEKA & WICHITA FALLS SERIES UPDATE:After dropping the opening game of the series, the Wichita Falls Wildcats captured game 2 with a 1-0 overtime win in Topeka on Sunday night. Richard Young scored just over two minutes into the extra session. That series also resumes this weekend in Wichita Falls with games three and four on Friday and Saturday.
BULLS BITES:The Amarillo Bulls continue to have the hot hand against the Texas Tornado. After posting five wins during the regular season, the Bulls have followed that up with two more. The Bulls special teams have been very affective with three power play goals in nine chances, while limiting Texas to just one power play goal in 12 opportunities.
AMARILLO BULLS 7 – TEXAS TORNADO 5: The Amarillo Bulls scored five consecutive goals to erase a 2-1 second-period deficit, and then held on for the victory in game 1 of the series. Sean Keane and Matt Johnson each had two goals, while Cody Freeman, TJ Sarcona and Zack Smoot had singles. Michael Erickson chipped in two assists. It was the first time since early October that the Texas Tornado and the Amarillo Bulls combined for 12 goals in one game.
AMARILLO BULLS 5 – TEXAS TORNADO 3: Three third-period goals erased a 3-2 deficit and lifted the Bulls to a 2-0 series lead on Friday night. Single goals came off the sticks of John Rey, Brandon Lubin, Zack Smoot, Matt Johnson and Brooks Behling. Michael Erickson and Derek Hills each had two assists.
