Amarillo, Tx(Apr 2, 2021) – The Amarillo Bulls continued their homestand against the Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday night where they fell 4-to-0.
The Bulls started the game with quality scoring chances but could not solve Shreveport goalie Arsenii Sergeev. Shreveport would get good looks as well but Andrew Takacs would stand tall for Amarillo. Both teams would head to the intermission scoreless but the Bulls would start the second period shorthanded.
Both teams would battle in the second period and both teams killing off a penalty. Late in the second period, however, Shreveport would break the ice with a Connor Gatto goal at the 14:51 mark to give the Mudbugs a 1-to-0 lead.
Amarillo would draw a penalty toward the end of the period and start the final frame with a power-play. The Bulls would continue to get quality scoring chances but could not solve Sergeev.
With just three minutes into the third period, Joe Mack would get a lucky break and have a wide-open net to give the Mudbugs a 2-to-0 lead. Amarillo would not be able to score in the third and Shreveport would strike two more times within the final two minutes to secure a 4-to-0 victory.
Despite the score, Bulls Head Coach Rocky Russo like how his team played the majority of the game. “I thought we played really well for the first two periods.” Russo said.
The Bulls will take on the Mudbugs Saturday and aim for a better result.
“The systems were there but the execution needs to be better.” Russo said.
