BULLS GET 1ST WIN OF SEASON, BEAT ODESSA 6-2
Odessa,Tx(Nov. 7, 2020)– The Amarillo Bulls earned their first win of the 2020-21 NAHL season with at 6-2 effort against the Odessa Jackalopes.
Amarillo got on the scoreboard early when Max Scott got his first goal of the season just 4:30 into the first period after a great setup from Nick Martino. The Bulls would quickly jump out to a 2-0 lead when Chris Carroll put home his first goal of the season.
Odessa would cut the lead in half when a strange hop off the glass had the puck land right on the stick of Fletcher Anderson who buried his first of the year to end the first period 2-1.
Ty Black would get his first goal just 2:28 into the second period with a power play goal followed by a Nick Stapleton goal later in the period. The Bulls added to their lead when Stapleton put home his second goal early in the third period to give the Bulls a 5-1 lead.
With around three minutes remaining in the game, Liam O’Hare would benefit from a giveaway from the Bulls blue line and score on a breakaway to give Odessa life. However as was the theme for the entire game, the Bulls defense would shut down any Odessa opportunity’s and with a few seconds left in the game Carroll would deflect in his second goal of the game to secure a 6-2 win for the Bulls.
Defensemen Sean Vlasich picked up two assists paired with his strong defensive play to keep the Jackalopes offense at bay. Oliver Bezick also tallied two assists. Cal Sandquist earned his first win as the Bulls goalie stopping 14 of the 16 shots he faced.
The Bulls will be back on the road next weekend when they face the Lone Star Brahmas in North Richland Hills Nov 13 and 14th.
