BULLS EARN POINT IN OT LOSS TO WICHITA FALLS

 

Amarillo,Tx(Nov 31,2020)-The Bulls earn a point in Thursday’s game against get Wichita Falls Warriors with a 5-4 loss in overtime. 

 

The Bulls broke the ice with a Greg Japchen power play goal to give Amarillo a 1-0 lead just 2:18 into the game. Amarillo would have a one goal lead up until the 13:40 mark when Warriors forward Ryan Robinson beat Cal Sandquist to tie the game. 

 

Three minutes later, the Warriors would take the lead with a Adisen Brueck goal to give Wichita Falls a 2-1 lead after the first 20 minutes of play. The Bulls spent the first period in penalty trouble but killing off all 3 penalties. 

 

The 2-1 score stayed for the majority of the second period and with just four minutes left in the period, Jackson Salt gave the Warriors a 3-1 lead. Two minutes later, the Bulls would convert on another power play with the second goal for Japchen of the game. 

 

In the third period, Chris Carroll scored his third goal of the season to tie the game at 3-3. Just over a minute later, Harrison Scott would take advantage of a fast break and would give the Bulls a 4-3 lead with eight minutes left in the game. 

 

With six minutes left in regulation, a violent collision would send Bulls defenseman Nick Dineen into the boards and on the ensuing turnover Brennen Couet would tie the game at 4. The Bulls would get one last chance to end the game in regulation with a late power play but could not solve Warriors goalie Owen Bartoszkiewicz and the game would go into overtime. 

 

In overtime the Bulls would get into more penalty trouble and Warriors forward Robinson scored his second of the game and would win the game for Wichita Falls. 

 

Greg Japchen was named second star of the game with his 2 goals. Nick Stapleton and Cooper Fensterstock both picked up two points in the contest. Bulls goalie Cal Sandquist made 29 saves on 34 shots faced and lost his second overtime game of the season. 

 

The Bulls will host the New Mexico Ice-Wolves on Saturday and Sunday as the teams meet for the first time this season.
