ONALASKA,WI – The Amarillo Bulls closed out their exhibition schedule on a positive note on Saturday night in Onalaska, Wisconsin.
Four goals in the second period powered the Bulls to a 4-2 triumph over the Coulee Region Chill. The Bulls special teams were a big key in the contest with two shorthanded markers and another on the power play. Roman Ammirato notched a goal and added two assists for Amarillo, while Tyler Gernhofer, Ryan Stevens, and Mike Davis added singles.
Kyle Gattelaro, Ben Jentsch, Brady Ferguson, Ryan Stevens, and Brendan Vetter picked up assists on the goals. Goaltenders Colin Delia and Paul Berrafato both played and shared in the victory.
“Our special teams were great for us tonight,” said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. “I hope this game was good preparation for both us and Coulee Region, and we can benefit from it prior to the start of the Showcase on Wednesday.”
Williams thanked the Coulee Region coaching staff for their hospitality during their stay.
It was a tough week for the Bulls with extra travel to Wichita Falls for practice before getting back on the road on Friday to head to Wisconsin. Williams said the team will take Sunday off to rest and recharge before heading out to visit several schools.
“We are going visit and practice at Minnesota State (Mankato) on Monday before moving on to St. Cloud State, and then on to St. John’s, a Division III school, where Dan McNamara is attending and a friend of mine Doug Schueller is coaching,” he said. “We have a lot of stuff planned for our players and give them an opportunity to see different college campuses.”
