Odessa,Tx(Nov 29, 2020) -The Bulls come up short from Ector County Coliseum Saturday night to fall to Odessa 4-3. The Jackalopes snapped their five game losing streak.

The Jackalopes started the game with a physical edge against the Bulls and at the 5:53 into the game, Jackalopes Defensemen DJ Hart scored his first of the goal of the season to give Odessa a 1-0 lead.

With both teams playing each other three out of the last four nights, tempers flared in the first period with two fights. Nick Martino and Hunter Carrick would exchange blows in the first period.

With four minutes left in the first, Jere Vaisanen scored on the power play to get his third goal of the season to maintain his lead as the teams leading point getter (8) and tied the game. Moments after the collision, Noah Marino and Isiah Huempfner would receive fighting majors in what was the second fight of the night between the two teams.

At the 11:55 mark of the second period, an odd man rush would result in Oliver Bezick would tuck home a rebound to cut the lead to 3-2, the goal is Bezick’s second of the season. Moments later the Jackalopes got into penalty trouble resulting in an Amarillo 5-3 advantage.

Tyler Sedlack would tie the game on the two man advantage and would be the second power play goal for the bulls.

In the final minute of the second, Odessa captain Evan Orr would set up a goal for line mate Gabe Bennett to score his first of the season and give the Jackalopes a 4-3 lead after 40 minutes of play.

The Bulls would put a lot of pressure on Odessa goalie Noah Rupprecht but would not be able to get the tying goal. In the last 20 seconds of the game the Bulls had a few chances with the extra attacker but out of a net mouth scramble the Odessa goalie with help from his defenseman would keep the puck out and give the Jackalopes a 4-3 victory.

The latest news on Grep Japchen is a possible concussion for the Bulls defenseman but he was able to make the trip back home on the team bus. Coach Russo said the following about the hit in his post game interview.

“ That was more than just a minor penalty, I think the league will take a look and there will be further discipline on Hart for that hit on Greg.” Coach Russo said.

The game saw a total of ten penalties with Amarillo going 2/7 on the power play and Odessa going 1/3 on the man advantage. Amarillo also ended the game with a wide margin of shots with a 37-22 final shot count.

The Bulls will hit the road again next weekend to face the Shreveport Mudbugs which will be their first home games of the season. The Mudbugs defeated the Brahmas Saturday night with a 4-1 score.
