AMARILLO, TX – Another Amarillo hockey first can be set tomorrow (Friday) night.
The Amarillo Bulls can wrap up the South Division regular season title and home ice right through the playoffs with a victory over their rival Texas Tornado. Game time is 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
It’s the first of back-to-back meetings between the two teams, and the final ones unless they meet in the South Division final. The Bulls have won five of the six meetings between the teams including four in a row.
There will be plenty going on this weekend for fans to participate in. On Friday, it’s the return of Dollar Hot Dog Night, while on Saturday one lucky fan will shoot for a chance to win a Scion TC courtesy of Street Toyota Scion.
On the ice, the Bulls are coming off a 5-1 victory in Corpus Christi last week, while the Texas Tornado earned a split in Topeka against the RoadRunners. The Bulls have won five in a row, while the Tornado has just one victory in their last seven games.
“It will be a tough weekend for us,” said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams regarding the match-up against the Tornado. “I know they were probably not happy with the result the last time we played them. Coach (Tony) Curtale will get his guys going and playing hard-nose hockey. They are a team upfront that if you let your guard down, they can score on you quickly.”
Forward Brooks Behling has eight points against Texas, while goaltender Greg Gruehl has three of the five wins.
Tickets for both games are available at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk, Suite 101 in the Amarillo Building, Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets including United Supermarkets.
