BLAINE, MN – Since the Amarillo Bulls offense has arrived in Blaine, Minnesota it has certainly not had a problem finding the back of the net.
That was certainly the case on Friday morning at the North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota as the Bulls fired nine goals including seven in the first 40 minutes and went on to blast the Jamestown Rebels 9-0 and remain unbeaten at the event.
Logan Jenuwine and Alex Peterson each had two goals, while Brenden Datema, Jake Willets, Jason Brancheau, Ryan Lautenbach, and Nick Anderson had single markers. Anderson set up three goals, while Datema, Brancheau, and Nick Trela each had two helpers. Jason Grande who had struggled early on in the season, got himself back into form stopping all 22 shots he faced in notching the shutout.
Special teams got the Amarillo scoring attack going as Alex Peterson and Jason Brancheau scored power play goals to open close the period, while Logan Jenuwine added a marker even strength. The Bulls outshot Jamestown 16-6 in the first period.
In the second the Bulls finalized a five minute power play by extended the lead to 4-0 thanks to Brenden Datema’s shot from the point. The Bulls then put the game out of reach with three goals in a span of just over two and a half minutes. Logan Jenuwin, Jake Willets and Alex Peterson accounted for the offense.
The third period featured two more goals as Ryan Lautenbach and Nick Anderson each had their first goals of the season.
Goaltender Jason Grande looked calm and cool in goal turning aside all of the shots he faced. Amarillo outshot Jamestown 45-22 overall including 18-9 in the third period.
There is one more game for the Bulls and it will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at noon at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota versus the New Jersey Titans. The Bulls will attempt to do something they have never done before and that is go undefeated during the Showcase. Fans will be able to see their Amarillo Bulls back in action next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29 versus the Topeka Pilots at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
