BLAINE, MN – The Amarillo Bulls hope that history as way of repeating itself…
In six previous trips to the North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota the Bulls has posted five opening day wins (5-1) and they certainly hope that is the case again when they begin play tomorrow night against the Brookings Blizzard.
The Bulls head into this year’s showcase with a record of 1-2 following back to back losses at the hands of the Odessa Jackalopes and the Lone Star Brahmas on home ice. It will be the first all-time meeting between the Bulls and the Blizzard although their Head Coach Dan Daikawa has faced Amarillo in the past. Daikawa led the former Jamestown Ironmen against the Bulls at the 2013 Robertson Cup National Championship Tournament.
The Showcase gives all 22 NAHL clubs a chance to play those they otherwise wouldn’t get to see. More than 300 scouts from the NCAA, NHL, and Major Junior Hockey are on hand to watch the players at the Schwann Super Rink.
Fans will be able to tune into the Amarillo-Brookings game live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, online at www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV with Fast Hockey beginning with the Wayland Baptist University Warm Up Show at 6:40 pm. The puck drop follows at 7 pm.
The Bulls have played 24 games at the NAHL Showcase in their six previous visits and have posted a record of 11-8-5. Twice the Bulls have netted three victories at the Showcase, while last year was the first time that they came away with none. The 2nd day has traditionally been the toughest on the Bulls with a record of 1-5 in six games. In the final two days of the event, the Bulls have been very productive with a combined record of 5-2-5 for 15 points.
The Bulls continue play at the Showcase with three more first time opponents, including the East Division New Jersey Titans on Thursday at 5:15 pm. It’s a familiar face behind the bench on Friday that the Bulls get to see as Scott Langer leads Aberdeen Wings versus Amarillo in prime time at 8:15 pm. Matt Nicholson charges wrap up their play at the Showcase on Saturday at 12:30 pm versus the Janesville Jets. Broadcast coverage for the final three games at the Showcase begins 20 minutes before the puck is dropped with the Wayland Baptist University Warm Up Show.
It’s going to be a while between home games for the Amarillo Bulls which won’t be back to the cozy confines of the Budweiser Bull Pen until Friday, Oct. 14 when they take on the Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm. That begins three consecutive games at home for the Bulls against the Brahmas. Tickets for all games are available at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk or by calling 806-242-1122. The Bulls office is a great place to find further information on Season Tickets (Full or Half), 10 Game Flex Packs and Corporate Marketing Partnerships. Additionally, tickets can also be picked up at the Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket locations including United Supermarkets.
