AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls are back in first place in the North American Hockey League, following back to back home-ice wins over the Topeka RoadRunners. The Bulls beat the RoadRunners 4-2 and then rallied for a three-goal deficit to win the second one 5-4 in a shootout.
Amarillo is currently tied for first place with the Texas Tornado in South Division with 19 points.
UPCOMING GAME:There is just one game for the Amarillo Bulls this week. It takes place on Friday night when the Bulls host the Wichita Falls Wildcats at 7 pm in the Bull Pen at the Amarillo Civic Center.
UPCOMING PROMOTION:American Idol Finalist Lacey Brown will sing the National Anthem prior to Friday night’s game versus the Wichita Falls Wildcats. She will also be available to sign autographs during the night.

TRADITIONAL AWAY BREAK:Friday night’s game is the last Amarillo Bulls home game for approximately three weeks. The World Ranch Rodeo takes over the Amarillo Civic Center during part of that time. The Bulls will play two away games during that stretch in Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Wichita Falls Texas.
STATS CHANGES:Saturday night’s 5-4 shootout win over Topeka, was the first for the Amarillo Bulls when they have trailed after 40 minutes this season. It was just the second time that the club has trailed going into the locker room. Meantime, it was the first loss for Topeka when they had outshot an opponent this season.
NOTEWORTHY NUMBERS:The Amarillo Bulls are just one point off of the overall lead in the North American Hockey League. The St. Louis Bandits lead the way with 20 points followed by Amarillo and Texas. Goaltender Nikifor Szczerba leads the circuit in wins with nine, four in minutes played (663:07), saves (315) and fifth in save percentage with .929.
DEUCES WILD:Terrance Johnson, Chris Cass, Ricky DeRosa and Dan Sherer shared something in common over the weekend. Johnson, Cass, and Sherer each scored two goals, while DeRosa chipped in two assists.

AMARILLO BULLS 4 – TOPEKA ROADRUNNERS 2:Dan Sherer scored twice including the game winner in the third period to propel the Bulls past the RoadRunners 4-2. The two teams were tied 2-2 going into the third period when Sherer stole the puck away from the defenseman and backhanded it into the net. Kyle Sucher, and Zack Smoot earned the other Bulls goals. Goaltender Nikifor Szczerba stopped 18 of 20 shots he faced.
AMARILLO BULLS 5 – TOPEKA ROADRUNNERS 4, SHOOTOUT:The Amarillo Bulls fired three goals in the final 22 minutes of play to come from behind and beat the Topeka Runners 5-4 in a shootout. Michael Erickson started the heroics with a goal in the final two seconds of the second period. Terrance Johnson and Chris Cass netted markers in the third period to tie the game 4-4. For Cass it was his second of the game. Terrance Johnson concluded the dramatic game by scoring in the seventh round of the shootout.
