BULLS ANNOUNCE 2019 TRAINING CAMP

AMARILLO, TX – Ahead of the Amarillo Bulls’ 10th anniversary season, the team announced the schedule for the 2019 Training Camp on Wednesday morning.

The 2019 edition of the preseason camp will begin on Sunday, September 1, with the first full-team practice in the afternoon. Over the next six days, the Bulls will skate twice per day in an effort to implement the team’s systems to the plethora of newcomers who join the seven returning Bulls from the 2018-2019 season.

As the opening day of camp draws closer, the team is set to bring on 30 skaters to the Amarillo Civic Center for evaluation and the opportunity to make the finalized roster in October.

The first few days of camp will come with two noticeable absences, as Head Coach Rocky Russo and forward Nick Trela will still be in Sochi, Russia at the 2019 Sirius Junior Club World Cup and will return to the team upon the tournament’s conclusion.

“We are looking forward to getting our 2019-2020 team on the ice next week,” said Russo. “Our staff expects an excellent compete level from Day One, as we prepare to defend the South Division Championship. We know we have set a high standard in Amarillo and will do everything we can to uphold it.  We have a good group of veterans that will help to lay the foundation for our culture and a very good recruiting class to complement them. “

George Lewis, Russo’s assistant coach, will take over the operations of the camp for the early part of the week.

“Our staff worked really hard this past season to put together what we think will be another very competitive roster,” Lewis said. “It’s starting to feel like hockey season, and we’re excited to hit the ice with the whole group on Sunday.”

The Bulls will hold practices from September 1 through September 6, and the week’s work will culminate in a full-team scrimmage on Saturday, September 7. The scrimmage will begin at 11:45 a.m. and is open to the public, free of charge.

The Bulls will celebrate the home opener of their 10th anniversary season on Friday, September 27 against the Shreveport Mudbugs. Tickets can be purchased by calling (806) 242-1122 or by visiting amarillobulls.com.
