AMARILLO, TX – Several former members of the Amarillo Bulls will hit the ice this weekend as the NCAA opens its Division I Men’s Hockey Season.
Five Bulls’ Alumni will suit up for Army as they head to Penn State to open up the Nittany Lions’ brand new multi-million dollar Pegula Ice Arena. Joe Kozlak, Luke Jenkins, are joined by Freshman Garrett Peterson, and Clint Carlisle, as well as Kyle Plagemen on the Army Roster. Penn State has former Bull Ricky DeRosa in its line-up.
Three other former Bulls will mark their NCAA debuts. Captain (2011-12 season) John Rey suits up for Robert Morris University in a pair of games versus Lake Superior State. Rey will play this season with Greg Gibson and the two will face their former teammate Matt Johnson.
The Bentley Falcons with Tyler Deresky visit the University of Nebraska-Omaha. John and Hampus Gustafsson and Merrimack visits the University of Denver for a pair of games It’s John’s second year with the Warriors, while Hampus begins his first. The two have not played on the same team since they were both younger.
Forward Brooks Behling begins his Sophomore season with the Providence Friars this weekend in two non-conference games against Minnesota State.
On Saturday, Canisius College plays one of its closest rivals in Niagara University. Freshman Cody Freeman is joined by defenseman Geoff Fortman on Canisius.
The defending Robertson Cup National Champion Amarillo Bulls are back on home ice tomorrow (Friday) night when they host the rival Topeka RoadRunners at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center at 7 pm. On Friday, fans can get four tickets, four hotdogs and four sodas for just $39, while for $20 it’s two tickets, two hotdogs and two sodas. Tickets can be purchased at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk, Suite 101 in the Amarillo Building, as well as Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets.
