ALUMNI NOTEBOOK – Big Goals By Alumni Spark Teams


AMARILLO, TX – Two Amarillo Bulls Alumni are among the leaders in the nation in scoring for respective NCAA Divisions.

Robert Morris University forward Greg Gibson is third in Division I overall scoring with eight goals and eight assists for 16 points. At the Division III level, forward Mike Davis from Neumann University is tied for second in scoring with eight goals and five assists for 13 points.

Meantime, it was a great weekend for Amarillo Bulls Alumni as big goals help to spark their respective NCAA teams.

John and Hampus Gustafsson each had a goal and an assist as Merrimack College doubled UMASS 4-2. Colin Delia notched the win in goal. The next day Hampus Gustafsson got on the scoredboard but Merrimack and New Hampshire played to a 2-2 tie.

Arizona State University continues to play a torrid non-conference schedule and managed to beat Lake Superior State 3-2 on both nights thanks to goals by Ryan Stevens. Tyler Deresky scored as Bentley dumped RIT 3-2 in overtime.

Goaltender Paul Berrafato posted the win in goal as Holy Cross defeated Air Force 5-1. Karl Beckman earned an assist in the game. The next night, Air Force defeated Holy Cross 5-1 as Tyler Rostenkowski had a goal. Joe Grabowski chipped in an assist but Princeton fell to Dartmouth 3-2.

At the Division III level, Mike Davis figured in on all four goals for his team as Neumann University dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to Manhattanville. Davis scored once and assisted on three of the others. Forward Riley Christenson had an assist as St. Norbord blasted Aurora 7-1. Mitch McPherson got another goal as Hamline beat Wisconsin-Superior 5-4. Defenseman Brett Szjaner set up a goal as Utica bested Elmira 4-3.

Gage Christianson and Omar Mullan had assists as Milwaukee School of Engineering blanked Northland 2-0.

The current Amarillo Bulls hit the ice for games on Saturday at Sunday at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. On Saturday, the Bulls host the Wichita Falls Wildcats at 7 pm. It’s Men’s Health Presented By Panhandle Cancer Cure Foundation and the first 500 fans will receive blue t-shirts. On Sunday, it’s Cumulus Media night as the Bulls entertain the Odessa Jackalopes at 7 pm. Fans can bring five non perishable food items to the game and get $5 off their ticket.
