Weekend Preview-Bulls Visit Topeka

THE SERIES: It’s the first meeting of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners. The two long time rivals will play a total of eight times with all four games in Kansas coming before Christmas and the games in the Texas Panhandle in the new year. The Bulls won the last regular season meeting between the two teams in overtime with Tyler Gernhofer scoring the winner.

The puck drop follows shortly after 7 pm.

SHOWCASE RECAP: The Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners combined for six wins at the NAHL Showcase. The Bulls finished with a mark of 3-0-1 in third place behind the Lone Star Brahmas and the Minot Minotauros. Amarillo notched wins over the Brookings Blizzard, New Jersey Titans, and Aberdeen Wings but fell in overtime to the Janesville Jets. Kosta Likourezos and George Mika led the Bulls in scoring in the event, while goaltender Nikita Babintsev posted all three wins. Topeka picked up a record of 3-1 with victories over the Austin Bruins, Northeast Generals and the Coulee Region Chill.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE: Over the next nine games the Amarillo Bulls will see a lot of the Wichita Falls Wildcats and the Lone Star Brahmas. The Bulls and the Cats will meet next Friday, Oct. 7 and then at the end of October in the Texas Panhandle. Lone Star Brahmas have four straight games versus the Bulls with one next Saturday in North Richland Hills followed by three straight at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center (Oct. 14, 15, 16).

STATS AND STUFF: Forward Kosta Likourezos leads the North American Hockey League with 12 points in seven games including seven goals. Forward George Mika is tied for third with nine points and five goals. Goaltender Nikita Babintsev is tied for second with three wins in the NAHL and is fifth in goals against average.
