THE SERIES: These are the final two meetings of the regular season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays. The Bulls have won all six meetings, outscoring the IceRays 32-12. Forwards Tyler Gernhofer and Brady Ferguson lead the team with 10 points each. Gernhofer has five goals while Matt Sieckhaus and Mike Davis each have four goals. Goaltender Paul Berrafato has four of the six wins and a goals against average of 1.41. Malo Ville, Connor Kelly and Nick Mofils have tallied seven of the team’s 12 goals.
WHAT’S LEFT: There are just 12 games, including the two this weekend for the Amarillo Bulls on their regular season schedule. Four of the games are at home while eight are away from home. After having next weekend off, the Bulls resume their play on home ice on Friday, Mar. 7 and Saturday, Mar. 8 against the Topeka RoadRunners. A tough part of the remaining schedule includes four games in five nights (Mar. 14 through March 18) with two in North Richland Hills to face the Lone Star Brahmas followed by two in Kansas against the Topeka RoadRunners. The schedule concludes with two at home against the Wichita Falls wildcats to close out the home portion of the schedule and two on the road in Odessa to end the regular season.
STREAKS AND TRENDS: Since the Christmas break the Amarillo Bulls have played 16 games and have a record of 14-2. In eight of the 16 games the Bulls limited the opposition to one goal or less. The Bulls have won nine games when tied after the second period. Forwards Mike Davis and Brady Ferguson each have six goals while goaltender Collin Delia is 5-1-0 with a .84 goals against average and posted two shutouts.
ACROSS THE SOUTH: The Amarillo Bulls had their South Division lead trimmed to five points on Friday night after Topeka posted a shutout victory over the Lone Star Brahmas. The Wichita Falls Wildcats extended their fourth place lead over Corpus Christi to nine points with a win in Odessa. The RoadRunners meet the Brahmas tomorrow night, while the Wildcats take on the Jackalopes in West Texas.
