Weekend Preview-Bulls Host IceRays

THE TEAMS: Corpus Christi IceRays at Amarillo Bulls

LOCATION: Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.

WHEN: Friday and Saturday at 7 pm.

PROMOTIONS: The Bulls are wearing special heritage jerseys all weekend long courtesy of Blu Energy. A jersey auction will be held immediately after Saturday’s game with proceeds to benefit Youth Hockey.

THE SERIES: The Corpus Christi IceRays will make their final visit to Amarillo this season when the two teams hook-up. The Bulls still have one more trip to South Texas to face the IceRays at the end of February. Forwards Tyler Gernhofer and Matt Sieckhaus have combined for nine goals (Gernhofer 5, Sieckhaus 4), in the series, while Mike Davis and Kyle Gattelaro have three and two goals respectively. Goaltender Paul Berrafato is 3-0 with a Goals Against Average of less than two per game.

STATS PACK: The Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays have a combined for 23 wins when they lead after 40 minutes and no regulation losses. The Bulls have 21 South Division wins while the IceRays just have 11.

ACROSS THE SOUTH: There are two other big match-ups in the South Division this weekend. The Wichita Falls Wildcats visit the Topeka RoadRunners. Oddly enough, this is the first time the two teams will meet this season. In Hidalgo, the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees entertain the Lone Star Brahmas.
