THE SERIES: It’s the latest round in the Battle Of The Cattle Series between the Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas. The Bulls have the edge 4-2 in the season long series. After this weekend, the two clubs will meet two weeks later (Feb. 14, 15) back here in Amarillo and then again one final time during the regular season on Mar. 14, 15. Defenseman Joe Grabowski has notched two goals and five assists for seven points, while forward Mike Davis has collected four goals and two assists for six points. Forward Carter Penzien has three goals. Forwards Matt Lison and Jan Hudacek of Lone Star has five of the team’s 13 goals tallied in the series.
BULLS @ HOME: This is the second longest home stretch of the season for the Amarillo Bulls which will play five consecutive games at the Budweiser Bull Pen over the course of the next three weeks. Four of the five games will be against the Brahmas. Amarillo has collected 17 wins on home ice out of a total of 20 they have played. The Bulls have netted 79 goals when the home team and allowed just 34. Goaltender Collin Delia has posted 10 victories.
ACROSS THE SOUTH: There could be some movement in the South Division standings this weekend with all teams in action. The Bulls own an 11 point lead over the Topeka RoadRunners for first place. The race is between second and fourth where the separation is sixth points. There is now a race developing for the fourth and final playoff spot as the Corpus Christi IceRays have pulled to within nine points of Wichita Falls.
SOUTH DIVISION SCHEDULE: All of the teams in the South Division see action this weekend. The Topeka RoadRunners make the further trip of anyone when they visit the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for the first and only time this season. The Corpus Christi IceRays begin a two game home stand with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. The Odessa Jackalopes take on the Wichita Falls Wildcats.
