It's Sonic Sunday as Bulls Host Brahmas

AMARILLO, TX – One of the more unique promotions hits the ice tonight (Sunday) at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. It’s the fourth annual Sonic Sunday where sports fans across the Texas Panhandle can see a hockey game for free.

This year fans will be able to witness the fifth round of the Battle Of The Cattle as the Amarillo Bulls host the Lone Star Brahmas.

Doors will open at 4 pm today and tickets will be available at Main Civic Center Box Office on Buchanan or a the Southeast Corner Gate 8 on a first-come-first-serve basis. There will be plenty of activities to keep fans entertained prior to puck drop on the Main Concourse.

On the ice, the Bulls have not played since just before Christmas where they collected one out of a possible four points versus the Wichita Falls Wildcats. One of the factors that’s in the Bulls favor is that they are unbeaten in Sonic Sundays at 3-0.

Today’s opponent the Lone Star Brahmas will take the ice for their third straight game. The Brahmas defeated the Odessa Jackalopes 2-1 in a shootout and 3-2 in regulation for their second and third victories in a row. Those wins have propelled the Brahmas out of last place and into sole possession of sixth.

It’s the fifth meeting of the season between the Bulls and the Brahmas. The Bulls captured the first two 4-2 and 7-0, while Lone Star won the last two 4-1 and 4-0.  Defenseman Joe Grabowksi, forwards Matt Sieckhaus and Mike Davis lead the Bulls in this series with two goals each. Grabowski, Cody Gylling and Ryan Stevens have been the top shot producers.

Forward Jan Hudacek leads the Brahmas with two goals and four assists for six points, while captain Matt Lison has three goals.

Can’t make it to the game then be sure to listen live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV courtesy of Fast Hockey, beginning with the Wayland Baptist University Warm Up Show at a special start time of 4:50 pm. Denis J. Puska has the play-by-play call just after 6 pm.

After tonight, the Bulls and the Brahmas will meet again on Tuesday New Years’ Eve at 7 pm also at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The night is presented by Budweiser and there will be plenty of giveaways.
